Our Favourite Summer Fabrics For 2017

We hope you’re enjoying the improved springtime weather! We certainly are here at Acorn Fabrics, which is why our blog last week took you through how to revitalise your style this spring. This week we’re going a step further, and giving you our take on some of the best summer fabrics to wear this season.

Grange BG Sky Check Fabric

Checks are famously versatile, and there are few fabrics that embody that better than our Grange BG Sky Check fabric. It toes the line wonderfully between smart and casual with its light, unobtrusive pattern, and the colour blue fits that mould of versatility very nicely too. It’s cheerful and breezy, but at the same time it’s not overly bold, making it restrained enough to make a good first impression. If you’re going to a party or social gathering and you’re not quite sure of the dress code, you could definitely do worse than Grange BG Sky check. Its poplin weave also gives it a light weight too, so you’re not going to be sweating too much under the springtime sun.

Grange DW Blue Check Fabric

This fabric is excellent for those taken with the Grange BG Sky Check, but perhaps looking for that extra injection of colour. While the Sky Check leaves you a bit of wiggle room for those uncertain social situations, the DW Blue check leans more towards the informal side, with a cheerful stripe of sunshine yellow woven artfully into its pattern. On the technical side of things, it’s much like the Grange BG Sky Check – a medium-weight poplin that won’t leave you overheating inside or outside.

Barbados Plain Lime Green Linen Fabric

Time for something a little bolder: our Barbados Lime Green fabric fits the bill! It’s a bright, light, summery colour, which makes it fantastically vibrant under the springtime sunshine. It’s also made with 50% bamboo, which isn’t something that can be said of all of our fabrics. The bamboo makes it softer, silkier and wonderfully comfortable. It’s notably lightweight and breathable too, which means you’re not likely to find it sticking to your skin if things get too hot under the collar. It’s the very essence of beauty in simplicity.

(As a side note, it’s also 100% biodegradable – not something you’re likely to notice while wearing it, but a nice bonus nonetheless.)

Regent 18 Green Checked Fabric

Back to our checks again, the Regent 18 proves that actually, it’s perfectly easy being green. It’s one of the few selected fabrics that we’re offering as a limited edition for spring. It’s composed of vibrant checks and stripes, which gives it an overall style that’s bright but not garish. (By the way, if you’re looking for an even more eye-catching array of colours, it might be worth checking out the Regent 19 Striped fabric!)

Of course, these are just our suggestions. You may have your own ideas about which amongst our stock are your favourite summer fabrics.
