Brushed cotton

If you’re looking for a fabric that’s guaranteed to keep you warm, there’s no better choice than brushed cotton. The fabric, which has been brushed to remove its lint and fibres, is soft to touch and soft on skin and great at insulating the body too.

Twill

Twill shirting is perfect for winter and available in many varieties – from herringbone and denim to houndstooth and cavalry. Its high yarn count gives it a more expensive look than other types of shirting and also ensures it’s that little bit warmer for winter.

How you wear your twill shirt is entirely dependent on the type of fabric you choose. Formal twill shirting materials look great under a jacket and blazer and paired with dark chinos. Denim

While denim is technically a twill fabric, we thought it deserved its own space in our top five. Denim is one of those materials that’s a must winter. It’s hard-wearing, durable and looks good too – as well as being highly versatile.
